March is almost gone

Hello everybody. Another Friday has come, and it is also the end of the month. I have not updated my blog in recent weeks but I hope to rectify this in the remaining months in the deployment. I will try to post an update every Friday from now till the end. So here is my first foray as a dedicated blogger…..
March has been a lackluster month. Not month has been going on for which I am grateful. Winter has past and now we are well into spring. Time is not wasted here in Afghanistan. The picture is from a walk we did west of the main village, Kamu. As you can see, the grass is very green. It was also nice to see all the new farm animals; the goats actually looked cute roaming around like giant cotton balls, all poofy and such. But I digress. Our routine is pretty much set with getting up each morning, eating food, finding things to occupy the time till the next meal, and sleep. The missions help to break up the monotony. As is typical, very little changes.
Katie and I talk regularly which is nice. Now that she is home in Italy, and has a VoIP line, it is much easier to chat. I am looking forward to the deployment’s end, so that I can get back home to her. It is our hope to be moving from Italy late November, early December, so that we can have Christmas in the States. We are hoping for Ft Bragg, but Ft Benning, GA, may also be possible. Wherever we may get posted, I have one humble request: when you come to visit make sure you wear as much Northern regalia as possible. Yankee’s jerseys, ball caps, Giant champion t shirts, etc. We are from the North, or as one of my Soldiers likes, ‘Doc, you truly are a damn Yankee.’ Why thank you. Look out, the northerners are coming.
Well, I am going to put this post up. If there is anything you would like to know, please email me and I can add it to my next post. Thank you everyone for the card, letters, and care packages. They are welcome as always. I wish you all well. Take care and God speed.
